What Floor Photos Help Before a Site Visit?

Condition photos help introduce an existing floor before a site visit. Show the whole area first, then the details that need assessment, without guessing what caused them or trying to make the floor look better.

    Create a Clear Location Record

Start with a wide view from the entrance and another from the opposite direction if practical. Include the boundaries of the proposed work, adjoining materials and any fixed items that affect access.

Label the room or area in each photo group. If the space has several sections, use a simple sketch to connect them. A close-up becomes much more useful when the team can see where it sits in the larger floor.

    Show Differences in the Surface

Add clear photos of visible cracks, patches, stains, worn coating or other conditions you want reviewed. Include a wider view around each detail so it is not separated from its surroundings. Use ordinary lighting and avoid filters.

Photographs should document what can be seen, not prove a diagnosis. Describe observations such as "this area looks different after rain" or "the previous coating lifted here" if that is what you have actually noticed. Mark uncertain history as unknown.

    Include Boundaries and Access Limits

Photograph thresholds, steps, edges and transitions to another material. Note any area that remains covered or inaccessible. A set of photos should make its limits clear rather than give the impression that the entire slab has been examined.

Do not disturb an unknown covering, use chemicals or attempt a repair to improve the photo set. If more information is needed, the team can discuss the appropriate next assessment step.

    Separate Condition From Design References

Send the existing-condition set separately from finish inspiration. Labeling one group "current floor" and another "appearance ideas" keeps a reference image from being mistaken for the surface being assessed.

Before sharing, remove unrelated private information from the frame. The useful package is a small set of labeled, honest images and the floor history you actually know.

    • Whole-area views and a simple location sketch.
    • Close and wider views of each condition.
    • Thresholds, boundaries and inaccessible areas.
    • Factual observations without assumed causes.

    Discuss Your Floor

Tell Ellett Epoxy where the project is, how the space is used and which questions you want to work through.
