# Understanding Metallic Epoxy Pattern Variation

A metallic floor reference communicates a direction, not an identical finished pattern. Separate the features you want to repeat from the movement that makes each installation individual.

## Describe the Pattern at Two Scales

Start with the whole room. Does the reference feel calm, dramatic, light or dark? Then look closer at the shape and concentration of the movement. A floor can have a quiet overall palette while still showing substantial detail nearby. These are different design choices.

Instead of requesting an exact swirl, describe the balance you prefer: broad movement with open areas, fine movement spread more evenly, or a stronger concentration of contrast. Use ordinary words and mark the reference so the installer knows which feature you mean.

## Separate Direction From a Copy

Pick a small set of references that share a clear idea. If one has dark background colors and another has a light overall appearance, identify which characteristic matters in each. Otherwise the examples send opposing instructions.

A useful note might be: "I like the softer contrast in this photo, but the wider movement in the second one." It gives the conversation a decision to resolve without promising that one photograph can be recreated on another floor.

## Check the Room Before Approving the Direction

A close crop hides the size of the room, furnishings and light. Compare your references with wide photos of the actual space and the fixed finishes that will remain. Strong movement that looks appealing in a detail image may compete with a patterned wall or busy furniture.

Ask how the proposed direction will be reviewed and what approval actually covers. Color family, contrast and overall character can be discussed separately from the exact location of every shape. Keep the agreed references together so later conversations use the same starting point.

## Make a Clear Pattern Brief

Before moving ahead, write a short brief that someone else could understand without seeing your original search results. A clear brief leaves room for the individual character of the installation while reducing avoidable surprises. Use the existing metallic planning guide for the wider project decisions.

- Identify the feature you like in each reference.
