# How to Photograph a Space for Metallic Floor Planning

Design photos should explain the room, its light and the finishes a metallic floor will sit beside. A short, organized set is more useful than many close-ups with no context.

## Begin With a Whole-Room View

Photograph from the entrance and, where practical, from the opposite side of the room. Keep the camera reasonably level and include the main walls and fixed furnishings. These views show how the floor will be seen in ordinary use.

Use the lighting you normally have in the space. Do not add filters or heavy color adjustments. If the room looks different in daylight and under its regular lights, label a view of each so those conditions can be discussed separately.

## Show the Finishes That Matter

Add clear photos of cabinetry, counters, adjoining flooring and other permanent features that affect the palette. Include enough surrounding detail to identify where each finish belongs. A close-up with no label can be difficult to connect to the room.

If a finish will be replaced, label the replacement as planned and share the selected reference separately. Keep existing and future conditions distinct. This avoids choosing the floor around an element that will not remain.

## Connect Your References to Your Space

Choose a few flooring references and explain one useful feature in each: softer contrast, a certain color direction or a broader type of movement. Pair the references with your room photos instead of sending them as an unrelated inspiration collection.

Do not crop out every doorway or adjoining area. Those connections help explain how the design will fit the larger layout. This photo set is for visual planning; visible defects and old coating conditions belong in a separate condition-focused set for assessment.

## Send a Small, Labeled Package

Before sharing, check for personal paperwork, faces or unrelated private information in the images. Use short labels such as "entry view," "daylight" or "cabinet finish." You do not need professional photography to start a clear design conversation.

- Include entrance and opposite-room views.
- Show normal lighting and identify any planned changes.
- Label fixed finishes and adjoining materials.
- Explain the feature you like in each flooring reference.
